1. Overview

YourClaims ("we", "our", or "us") operates the website yourclaims.org (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our Service.

By using YourClaims, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • ·Account information: your email address and password (hashed) when you create an account.
  • ·Profile information: your province or territory and the service categories you indicate using (e.g., telecommunications, banking). This information is entirely voluntary.
  • ·Usage data: pages visited, features used, and general interaction patterns with the Service. This data is used in aggregate and is not linked to your identity.
  • ·Communication data: if you contact us by email or through our contact form, we retain that correspondence.

We do not collect your Social Insurance Number, government ID, or any legal documentation.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • ·Match you to class actions that you may qualify for based on your province and services used.
  • ·Send you email notifications about new matches and approaching deadlines (only if you have explicitly opted in).
  • ·Manage your account.
  • ·Improve the accuracy and relevance of our matching logic.
  • ·Communicate with you about your account or the Service.
  • ·Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third-party advertisers.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

YourClaims serves users in both Canada and the United States and complies with applicable privacy law in both jurisdictions.

Canadian users: We are subject to Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where applicable, Quebec's Law 25. We collect and process your personal information based on: (a) your explicit consent at account creation; (b) contractual necessity, to provide the Service you signed up for; and (c) our legitimate interest in improving matching accuracy. You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.

California and US users: If you are a resident of California, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of its sale. We do not sell your personal information. To exercise your rights, contact us at privacy@yourclaims.org. Other US state privacy laws may also apply depending on your state of residence; we will honour requests made under applicable law.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Aggregate, anonymized data (e.g., how many users are in a given province) may be retained indefinitely as it cannot identify you.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate YourClaims:

  • ·Supabase (database and authentication) — data is stored in servers located in Canada or the United States.
  • ·Resend (transactional email) — used to send match alerts and deadline reminders.

Each of these providers has their own privacy policy and data handling practices. We encourage you to review them.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • ·Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • ·Correct inaccurate information through your profile settings.
  • ·Request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • ·Withdraw consent to email notifications at any time (unsubscribe link in every email).
  • ·Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) if you are a Canadian user and believe your rights have been violated.
  • ·Lodge a complaint with your state Attorney General or applicable US regulatory body if you are a US user and believe your rights have been violated.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@yourclaims.org.

8. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (TLS), hashed passwords, and row-level security on our database. No method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we are committed to protecting your information.

9. Children

YourClaims is not directed at individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has submitted information through our Service, please contact us and we will remove it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. The updated policy will be posted on this page with a revised date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
